The Marathon of Worthiness: Step Up to Self-Value

The Marathon of Worthiness: Step Up to Self-Value

Ever felt unworthy? Ever found yourself playing small, not stepping up in your career, people-pleasing, or even self-sabotaging? You're not alone. Many of us grapple with feelings of unworthiness, often manifesting in these ways. However, just as one can train for and complete a marathon, one can also train to embody worthiness. In both cases, it's a long and sometimes grueling path, but the rewards are immense.

What is Worthiness?

Worthiness is the intrinsic understanding and belief that you are deserving of love, respect, and good things in life, just as you are. It's not about what you've achieved or how you compare to others; it's about recognizing your inherent value.

The Path of Worthiness and Marathon Training: A Comparison

Just like training for a marathon, the path to worthiness involves dedication, perseverance, and self-compassion. The goal of a marathon is to cross the finish line, while the goal of worthiness is to truly believe in and embody your inherent value.

The Tangible vs. Intangible Challenge

When training for a marathon, it's easy to understand that there will be good days and bad days, and we keep pushing forward. However, when it comes to worthiness, a bad day or experience often spirals into negative self-talk, reinforcing feelings of unworthiness. This makes the path to worthiness feel much more elusive and intangible.

Consciously Choosing Worthiness

Consciously choosing worthiness experiences can transform the abstract notion of worthiness into a more tangible reality. By actively engaging in practices that affirm our self-value—such as setting healthy boundaries, celebrating personal achievements, or surrounding ourselves with supportive individuals—we create a positive feedback loop that reinforces our belief in our worthiness. This choice acts like a training regimen for our self-esteem, allowing us to gradually replace negative beliefs with empowering affirmations. Just as each mile run in marathon training builds endurance, each positive experience reinforces our sense of deservingness, making it easier to embrace our intrinsic value. As we continue to dedicate ourselves to these conscious choices, we cultivate a palpable sense of worthiness that becomes an integral part of our lives.

Overcompensating and Auto-Pilot Behavior

Many of us overcompensate mentally and emotionally in various ways, often without realizing it. For instance, as a personal development company owner, facilitator, life coach, and creation circle leader, I've (Heather Jones) often been seen as the one with all the answers. My crutch in my career has been my knowledge. But who am I without that knowledge? Do I feel worthy of love and support from others? Can I exist in a room without needing to talk or communicate? Can I feel comfortable in a room where others know more than me? At the end of the day, how do I feel about myself? My auto-pilot is my reliance on knowledge. Not relying on my knowledge and experiencing myself just as I am has been where I've learned the most about who I am and what I'm capable of.

The Need for External Validation

We all experience auto-pilot behavior in different ways, often as a response to our feelings of worthiness. For me, it's been about knowledge, but for others, it might manifest as a lack of trust or an obsessive need to control their surroundings. Some may shy away from engaging in life and building relationships, even when they deeply desire a partner and family. When individuals do not feel inherently worthy, they tend to seek validation through external means. This can result in an overzealous ambition, as they constantly chase achievements and accolades to prove their value. Others may resort to people-pleasing, going to great lengths to secure others' approval, while some might succumb to addictive behaviors, using substances or unhealthy relationships as a means to numb the underlying pain of not feeling good enough. Ultimately, these patterns highlight the profound connection between our self-worth and the choices we make in our lives.

Steps to Embody Worthiness, Like Training for a Marathon

  1. Patience with Yourself: Understand that this is a process, and patience is crucial.

  2. Perseverance and Determination: Keep pushing forward, even when you have bad experience.

  3. Self-Evaluation and Honest Feedback: Regularly assess your progress and identify areas for improvement.

  4. Self-Forgiveness: Forgive yourself when you don't perform at your best.

  5. Intentionality: Be intentional towards the goal. Ask yourself, "What would worthiness look like in this situation?"

  6. Meet Yourself Where You Are: Understand that your path to worthiness won't look like someone else's.

  7. Support from Others: Communicate your goals and seek support from those around you.

Committing to a journey of worthiness is similar to training for a marathon and requires enrolling in a support process. Just as someone might take a course to learn how to run a marathon, enrolling in a program to embody worthiness can be incredibly supportive.

At The Creators Code, we have a program that covers all seven elements over the course of a year. It's called a creation circle. To learn more about a creation circle, connect with Heather, Crystal, Ali, or Linsay. Each circle leader brings their unique gifts and talents to their groups, making each circle a unique and enriching experience.

Like many of us, Heather, Ali, and Linsay have had their own unique paths and relationships with worthiness or the lack thereof. We've experienced bumps and bruises that show up in controlling styles, resistance to family environments, lack of trust, and playing small in life and careers. Each of us has learned to consciously take steps into the experience of being worthy. Join us in one of our creation circles to examine where in your life you can step into and embody worthiness.

Are you ready to step into your worthiness? Are you ready to commit to a journey of self-discovery and growth? Join us in The Creators Code, Creation Circle Membership and learn how to embody the seven elements of worthiness in your life. Connect with Heather, Ali, or Linsay today and start your journey towards a more fulfilling and empowered life. Don't wait any longer, take action now and embrace your worthiness! Remember, you are worthy of all the love, success, and happiness that life has to offer. It's time to claim it for yourself. So go ahead and take that first step towards a better you - we'll be right there beside you every step of the way.

“I've spent over $50,000 on personal development over the last 30 years. Out of all the events, the most impactful and profoundly transformative one was Personal Best Seminars I & II just this past November.

My life hasn't been the same since and I'm so grateful that a friend of mine kept suggesting I go. I'd say that if anyone has an area of their life where they are dissatisfied or struggling in relationships or communication, they should attend these sessions as soon as possible. Can’t wait for Level III”
